How much to raise my TA...

    FC 4.5
    TA 50
    CAL 70
    PH 7.5
    CYA 20-25
    I use Clorox
    Above ground vinyl pool

PH drops .2 every other day so I've needed to add Borax to get it up to 7.5-7.6. I'm thinking the TA is too low to keep it stable, but I want to do this right and not overdo it as I like adding Borax much better than acid! Should I get the PH to 7.6 then add enough baking soda to get the TA up to 60? 70? 80?

I know my CYA is a little low, but I was trying an experiment to see if CYA is why I'm so very dry when getting out of the pool. After just doing tests, my hands feel like sandpaper, so my guess is it's not the CYA....

VERY unusual for a pool to drop in pH. How are you chlorinating?

Are you using anything other than Clorox? .... like maybe some trichlor pucks/tabs?

    1)You lose 1ppm or less FC overnight, & 2)You have .5ppm CC's or less, & 3)your water is clear.

Nope, just household bleach. I had a self draining cover this winter and our soils (dust) is very alkaline though. Never used pucks. It drops every year, just not as fast as this. My alk hasn't been quiet this low on opening though.
