When you add CYA to the pool I understand it takes up to a week to show up when testing. But is it present and doing its job when it does not show up or is the reading correct.

When its dissolved its working and protecting chlorine from the sun. It takes a few days for the test to accurately work, so on the safe side we suggest a week. At times I get the readings I was expecting a day after adding the stabilizer..... Other times it takes 3-4.

Thanks its been 5 days and I thought it would be higher by now. Maybe I measured incorrectly. I'll give a few more days. The only reason I even questioned it was I lost a lot of chlorine yesterday and today. Very hot and sunny. Just over-reacting I guess.
That does seem high....but if your heat was as bad as ours it's possible. When in doubt try the OCLT. Eliminate the sun and see if there's anything else consuming your chlorine.
The farmers are plowin the fields(a lot of dust). But not concerned have the whole weekend to keep an eye on things. Thanks
