What to do about chemicals if we leave pool uncovered over t

I had to semi permanently install our stairs because the pool had to be dropped a foot into the ground to make it level. The stairs were a foot higher on the outside than the inside so I had to dig a foot down on the outside to level it out, then backfill. Anyway...

With the stairs installed I can't use a winter cover so we plan on leaving it uncovered for the winter. I'm just wondering what to do with the chemicals over the winter. When do we stop adding them and checking for FC etc?

Where do you live?

Why can't you use a winter cover? There are ways to do it even with obstructions.

Chicago. No trees nearby so debris shouldn't be a huge issue.

How do you use a winter cover with an obstruction like that?

I was hoping someone who has the problem would chime in. I have seen pictures of people putting sand/water bags on the cover to hold it down. Can you post a picture?

As long as you keep the water balanced and the pump running until the water is below 50 in the fall and get the pump running and levels balanced before it gets back up to 50 in the spring things usually go fairly well. Ah, you also need to rake up leaves any time it isn't frozen.

Your stairs look really good, i have a 18' x 52" intex agp and have been looking for a replacement to the inferior intext ladder that comes with the pool. Can you tell me what the name and model # are for the pool steps?

Nice but pricey...$599

I only got them because we originally bought a fence for around the top but the city changed the ordinance from a 5 foot fence to a 4 foot fence mid install. We already have a 4 foot fence so we didn't need the extra fence kit. That money plus the credit for the ladder that came with the package just about covered it.

The ladder is fine, but the self closing door doesn't exactly close so we have to manually close it. The hinges are on springs so it trys to self close but the door isnt square to the opening because the plastic frame sags.They give you a kit to fix that issue but it still doesn't close correctly.

Minor inconvenience though for an otherwise nice product.
