Help with sealing this pump connection

I have tried several times to get a leak proof connection between the threaded joint on the pump and the suction side piping. I am using teflon tape, threaded the thing all the way and still got drips. Should i be using something other than teflon tape? Any tips?

Try some thread sealant

Really any brand that's for PVC will be fine. Lowes or Home Depot will have it.
