pool is cloudy and slightly green tint. whats wrong?

Welcome to TFP.

Without knowing your chemistry, I can only guess, but most likely you need more chlorine.

Post your test results and we may have more guidance. The test strips are notoriously unreliable.

Using a test strip, for starters. They just aren't reliable enough.

What you need is the shock process. Note that it is a process, not a powder you buy at the pool store. Nor is it just a one-time treatment.

What you have is the beginnings of an algae bloom. To kill it, you need to raise Free Chlorine to shock level and maintain it there for quite a while. What is shock level, you may ask? Well...that is dependent on the stabilizer (CYA) level.

You need to start in so you understand the basics of pool chemistry and the importance of proper testing. Armed with a test kit and some knowledge, you can clear that pool.
