Aqua Rite Replacement Cell

I'm looking to replace the cell for my Aqua Rite generator system.

Based on my pool size (21,000 gal) I figured I would need Hayward's T-Cell-9 (under 25k gal).

When shopping sites, one noted that if my system was older than 2009 I could only use a T-Cell-15. I bought the house in 2009 with the existing system so it was installed prior to 2009.

Is this correct?

BTW my problem I'm experiencing that has me looking into replacing the cell is that the controller has a constant reading for salt of 2000 when I know my salt level is at least 2800-3000.

Any thoughts on a fix? Thanks

Actually we recommend sizing the cell 1.5-3X larger than your pool. So I would definitely get the T-15, even if your system was capable of using the smaller cells.

Have you cleaned the cell? Have you had it checked at a pool store to see if it is bad?
