Cya, wait a week before testing

I understand it takes up to a week after cya is added before we can test reliably but how long till the product is actually working once dissolved? If I added enough product to raise my cya to 40 yesterday, do I now chlorinate as if?

If you hung it in a sock, giving it a squeeze should give you a hint how much has dissolved already. Once it's dissolved into solution, it's working. But some of that stuff may not really be dissolved - it could just be such fine particles that it sllipped through the weave, which is why you wait a week to retest.

Yes, chlorinate as if the CYA is 100% dissolved. It will be a little high, but sunlight will drop it in a hurry.
