Easy question: add chlorine and Muriac Acid at same time?

I know the directions say add one, wait 2 hours and then add the other, but is it really necessary?

What's the worst that can happen?

Yesterday I was short of time so put both in and it seemed to work ok.

Wait 30 well mixed minutes in between. If you were to mix muriatic acid and bleach together, the result is chlorine gas, which is very dangerous.

Mixing chlorine with muriatic acid (before they get diluted and mixed into the pool) will produce chlorine gas, which is deadly. Also, depending on what form of chlorine you are using it can also cause an explosion.

But no need to wait hours, 30 minutes is more than enough.

Thank you. I put one in the west side and the other in the east side, about 15 feet apart. Great to know the why.
