I'm in the process of getting the pool set back up, we had snow flurries on May 7th real nice! I was thinking of disconnecting the copper element from the pump, can you unscrew the 2 probs that are screwed into the copper bars and then screw the original lead back on without any problems?

Easiest thing to do is just leave the plug unplugged. The posts and copper bars seal up the post holes.
I was able to unscrew the posts and just screwed the lead back on just to neaten it up some, shouldn't be any problem?
Just unplug that cable on the outside connected to the copper bars and you'll be fine. It might put up a bit of a fight, but it'll come off. Keep the copper bars in and the nut screwed on because that's what seals it.
