What size pump/filter should I get?

I bought a 15'x42" pool from craigslist and I don't want to use the pump that comes with it. What should I get to replace it? I'm looking at the intex sand filter pumps but I don't know if I should get the 14", 1600 gph model or the cheaper 12" 1200 gph model. Any thoughts?

12" might be enough, but the 14" would allow you to clean less frequently and could be used for a larger pool in the future. Although I think the 1600 gph pump is still a little weak.

Don't limit yourself to just combo units, you could find pumps and filters separately.

Here is a lot of info about Intex, note the link in the middle about the pumps:

Would the 2,650 GPH model be too big?
