Template Filter for DE Filter

Does anyone know the importance of a Template Filter for a DE filter? Any issues if it is not used?

Never heard of it. Guessing that maybe it is used to hold the tops of the grids in place to make it easier to put the manifold back on after you have taken it apart for cleanings.

It appears it is just to align the grids and hold them in position before you stick the top manifold on. I can see where it would make t easier to do. I don't think it's mandatory.

c. After all elements have been positioned on the bottom spreader, place the plastic template over the element spouts. This will keep the elements positioned correctly.
