In a few weeks I will need a way to get the water off the pool cover. This is the first time for me to open a pool that has been closed for the winter. Over the winter I have tried a simple siphon a couple times but the siphon effect quits with a fair bit of water still on the cover. I have (or at least can get) one of those bitty pumps that came off an Intex pool. Would that be any more effective than just the siphon? Do the commercial pool cover pumps that are available sit on the cover and in the water or do they depend on siphon to feed the water into the pump?
