My white sufaces, mostly steps, started to yellow. I tried a product called StainFree (Ascorbic Acid (vitamin C on steroids I think)
Am worried that the StainFRee is using up chlorine.
Directions were worthless. Said to lower chlorine to 1ppm before adding, wait 24 hrs then vac and BW. Then keep FC at no more than 2 for a week. I raised to 3. In 12 hrs it was back to .5.
Hope this stops soon. Anyone have any expeience with this stuff?
FYI, it does seem to be removing the yellow stains

Ascorbic Acid and Vitamin C are the exact same thing.

AA and chlorine mutually destroy each other. It is best to add an algaecide before adding AA, because otherwise algae can get started while the FC level is zero. You don't want to add chlorine until 24 hours have passed, to give the AA time to work while chlorine is zero. After that you need to keep adding chlorine in small doses until you can get an FC reading.

Those directions are reasonably close to correct, though they leave out some of the steps I would include.

How long has it been since you added AA?
