Pool drain on return plumbing

Well, its getting time to uncover the pool and hook everything up for another fun filled simmer...

I was thinking about cutting into my return line (hard plumbed), installing a "T" with 2 valves. One valve would be installed as the primary shutoff valve for the return line and the other valve would be used to open/close an additional line to quickly drain the pool during the fall closing (close return line valve and open drain line valve). This setup would allow me to drain the pool very quickly to the return eyeball level. Right now I use an electric pump to drain the pool.

I am curious if anyone else has done something similar and if they wouldn't mind sharing some pictures.

Thank you,

Marvin
