Raising CYA

Hi to all;

I know I've seen this question before but I was unable to find it on the site:

Wanting to raise my CYA level about 10 ppm using trichlor pucks. How fast will they raise the CYA level from 20 to 30 ppm?

That completely depends on how much chlorine you actually need to use to keep your pool up. http://www.poolcalculator.com/ enter your pool's capacity in and go to the bottom calculator and see how much trichlor your need to raise your CYA to 30.

Go to poolcalculator.com. Below the calculations table is a section on effects of adding chemicals. Select Trichlor in the drop down box and adjust to dose size. It will tell you based on the pool details you entered in the calculation table.

For every 10 ppm Free Chlorine (FC) added by Trichlor, it also increases Cyanuric Acid (CYA) by 6.1 ppm. So if your daily chlorine usage is around 2 ppm FC per day, then to add 20 ppm CYA it will take 20/0.61/2 = 16 days. The formula is Days = (desired CYA increase) / 0.61 / (FC usage per day)
