Cleaning Zodiac LM3 in Acid

My Zodiac LM3 would get a lot of calcium buildup because the water here in Las Vegas is rather hard. I have been typically putting the cell in a bucket of 1 part acid, 5 parts water. I leave it for 45 minutes. I know this is much more than the recommended time Zodiac has in their manual. Is this bad for the cell?

Does anyone have experience using any cleaning solutions? What process do you go through to ride your cell of calcium deposits?

Even if the water is hard, if you keep a close eye on your pH, you should not be seeing much scaling. Post up some test results.

So are you putting the cord/electronics below the water too? Usually best to plug one end, stand it up and put the solution inside.
