Kick back from Intex sand filter

I have the 1600gph model and every time I finish back washing, I get a lot of debris coming out of the return line when I set it to filter. Sometimes it even clogs the return. I took out the multi-port valve but didn't see anything wrong. Thanks

Does your multiport have a "rinse" position?

Yes it does. I was a pool boy for 4 years in college and Filter and Backwash were the only settings I paid attention to on multi-ports. What does Rince do?

Rinse resettles the sand bed while dumping the still dirty water to waste. Rinse for one minute and see if that clears it up. If not try 1.5 minutes, etc.

As you know turn the pump off each time you move the multiport lever.
