is this too much?

I have been wanting to put a sand filter and skimmer on my 16x48 AGP. Lucky me (I hope), just inherited an S200 hayward sand filter and pump. This was on my folks in ground pool. Plumbed at 1 1/2 inch is this going to be too much for my pool or will I be ok?

What size is the pump?

1.5 horse I think.

It probably a little too big for both the pool and the filter. That said, it will waste some electricity but likely not enough to justify buying another pump.
