Hi Guys, my pool is also spotted and very rough, look like the pic in http://www.troublefreepool.com/white-stains-in-dark-bottom-pool-t58275.html but severe, my pool man did not do a good job.
Two year old grey bottom, 25000 gallon, with a large bench.
p.s. i used a 2" steel flat edge and scraped the stuff off the plaster and it was smooth under, the stuf felt like sharp sand.

I have three kids that rubbed their feet raw and figured it was this .... can i drain pol and grind off with by sanding? appreciate your expertise and input

Welcome to TFP!

Draining the pool is always a little risky. You need to know what your ground water conditions are before you consider doing it on your own, but draining and sanding may be your best option.

Be careful of your water chemistry. Low pH or large additions of acid can damage the plaster on the floor.
