    waste water while vacuuming?

    Is there any reason I should not waste water while vacuuming the pool? Or rather while I am wasting water, can I vacuum too?

    We've gotten 5" of rain so far this weekend. The past 6 days were dry, but we got 4" of rain last weekend.
    Georgia tends to be clear and sunny then dump an inch of rain in a single afternoon thundershower, so I'm hoping the rainwater equals evaporation and splash out during the summer. But for now, just a lot of wasting/back washing.
    My pool is surrounded by an oak tree, a maple tree, and 12 Georgia pines (with these terrible things all over:
    )
    Lots of vacuuming and leaf-netting!

    Thanks!

    I think you are asking if you can vacuum while on the waste setting ... Yes you can, if you are dumping water anyway.

    Ok thanks. I've been wasting while manually vacuuming since we moved in. Just wanted to make sure there's no reason the filter should be running.

    If you do not want to remove water and there is not TOO much dirt, you can vacuuming into the filter instead.
