Hi, I'm new here and we have an 18 x 33 above ground pool. Our pump is 1.5 hp waterway supreme and has stopped pumping, just hums. I have taken cover off and can spin impeller, so according to others that means engine hasn't seized. Looking for the capacitor, I am at a loss. Took to pool store, they took the pump all apart and cannot find capacitor, which should be easy to spot. Any thoughts?? Thanks (oh, and this is a GREAT and very helpful website!!)

Could be a problem in the windings. Do you have a electric motor repair shop in your area? That is where you should take it. They will tell you in a few minutes what is wrong with it.
Some motors are capacitorless starts. Does it have a "V" shaped switch under the back cover? If it does, you may be able to clean it up with some fine sand paper.
No, it does not have a switch like that. Cannot find a capacitor at all . . . .so must be one that doesn't have one, but thanks for responding. Just frustrating, cause it was working fine until a couple days ago.
Can you post a pic of the back of the motor with the cover off?
