Yes, but be sure to add it properly:

Muriatic acid should be added to the pool by pouring slowly in front of a return jet with the pump running................. Leave the pump running for at least 30 minutes after adding muriatic acid.

Correct. They will help mix the chemical into the water so it does not sit on the bottom of the pool and cause problems.

If you have any concerns, you can also just do a quick brushing of the bottom to ensure it is mixed into the water, but this should not be necessarily if added as we described.

SkyKid, if you are new to working with muriatic acid, you should read handling info.
You should wear eye protection and most recommend gloves. Watch out for the vapors, too.

Stored the MA by itself, and away from chlorine sources.
