Ph rises daily

I've tried to maintain an active Ph of 7.4-7.6 but it rises daily about 0.4Ph.

I live in Phoenix and have metal stains that I'm currently working on. This is due to neglect from previous pool service and myself. I've been onboard with the TFP program for about 5 or 6 months now and test my pool almost daily. I recently added the borates hoping to stabilize this but it seems the same amount of chlorine and acid are needed as before. After adding all the Borax and Acid I was steady at 7.4Ph for two days. I then rechecked it on the third day and it was at 8.0Ph.

Is it possible it's just the water? It's barely drinkable down here and I obviously have some copper coming in as well.

Its probably the TA of 100. If you lower that it should slow the pH rise, though that might be a little more difficult with the borates in the water.

How do you chlorinate? SWG, manually, or other?

I agree with smy that your TA is too high for a borated pool and is likely causing your ph rise. Additionally, any aerating features will also raise ph, such as water jets, waterfalls, etc.

I use liquid chlorine that I pour in myself from the jug.

All waterfalls and aerators are off. I'll bring down the TA and report back.

Just keep knocking pH down and TA will eventually drop. It'll use the same amount of acid whether you accelerate the process or not.

When should I stop?

FC- 50
Ph- 7.4
TA- 80
CH- 300
CYA- 50
Borates- 50

You can go as low as 50 ppm TA with 50 ppm Borates. With that said, I would probably go a little further since your fill water is likely high in TA...maybe shoot for 70 ppm then see how your ph stability is.
