I was just wondering if it's better to use a gel type of detergent than powder when cleaning filter cartridges? I would think the gel would dissolve better than powder. Also, would the ratio of one cup per five gallons of water apply to the gel type of detergent?

No idea, but I used powdered TSP when i recently did mine, I filled a few gallons of water in my new trash can and then dumped in TSP and then used the hose to violently disturb the water as it filled. When full everything was dissolved.
