Teflon tape vs Plumber's pipe dope ?

Reading through my Hayward Power-Flo Matrix installation booklet under the Plumbing section it says

Use Teflon tape to seal threaded connections on molded plastic component. All plastic fittings must be new or thoroughly cleaned before use. NOTE: Do Not use Plumber's Pipe Dope as it may cause cracking of the plastic components

Teflon tape does not always give you the best seal as well as the plumber's dope does!!
Has anyone had any experience using pipe dope instead of Teflon tape on the plastic housed pumps and any other plastic to plastic fittings? :idea:

I use dope on some fittings. If you do, make sure it is labelled for use on plastic pipe.

I use the white ptfe pipe dope with no issues whatsoever
