adding borax question

I accidentally added the borax first is it ok to add the muriatic acid next?

Welcome to TFP!

You should add the acid as soon as possible. High PH can lead to calcium scale and/or metal staining. The less time you leave the PH high the better.

ok thanks so much for the fast answer. I was in the process of putting the first half before scrubbing and am now adding muriatic, going to scrub it and then add the other half of borax and muriatic.

Just to confirm. What is your TA? You lowered it first before starting to add the borates right?

Yes I had it to the recommended level for a swg vinyl above ground pool
