Spa draining during cycle

When my spa cycle comes on, the compool runs it for about an hour, the spa drains completely and starts sucking air, as there is a very low flow of water coming in to the spa. For this cycle the valves are set to drain from spa and return to spa. Does this mean I have a blockage on the spa return?

It could mean that you have a leaking pool return valve when it closes to divert to the spa. That way you'd be sucking all the water from the spa and returning part of it to the pool so the spa would eventually empty. Depending on how much it's leaking would determine how fast the spa drained.

Are you sure that both the suction and return valves are completely turning for spa mode? Maybe there is a problem with the return valve actuator.

Great. I checked the return valve and found that the plastic between the actual divider and the handle had split completely in two, so I guess it wasn't turning completely. Thanks guys! Back to the store
