intex saltwater generator problems

I hooked my intex saltwater generator and I cannot get the water to circulate I checked all my hose connections and that they were connected in the right place and that all the appropriate valves are open and it still doesn't work I get a great deal off air our of the top valve on the pump for some reason it does not want to circulate the water. Any help is greatly appreciated

Have you bleed the air out of the filter after the system was put back together again?
