Test Results

So I got my test kit in and the pool is starting to get put up. I decided to run the tests on the tap water that we will be using to fill the pool.
Here are my results:
pH >8.2
FC 0.5
CC 3
TA 120
CYA <20 (I could still see the dot at the bottom)

How are these results?

You're going to have a bit of work to do once you get the pool filled but you've made a good start by testing your fill water. Tap water won't have any CYA but running the test was good practice.

You'll need some acid to get the pH down and some chlorine of course.
You're TA isn't too high so I'd just let it come down as you adjust the pH as needed.

How about CH, this is one of the more important factors in fill water as it builds up over time (concentrated due to evaporation) in the pool

I guess I forgot about the CH because i thought for Vinyl it was unimportant but I will run that test next time. Thanks for the help.

Good catch Isaac!

It's not important if it's too low but it can be if it's too high.
It's a good idea to run the test just to know where you are.

I was pleasantly surprised as to how easy it was to run the tests. I was really worried that it would be over my head but now I feel much better!

CC 3 on tap water?
Surely it wouldn't be that for the full fill, I could see initial flow as having some CC from water sitting idle. Would this be a concern for your drinking water?

Some municipalities use monochlorimine as their sanitizer which shows up as CC on the test kit. It will go away pretty quickly once it's in the pool.
