Good afternoon all! I read it somewhere on this forum or on the PS Forum but now I can't find it.....How much CYA is put into the pool when you use Dichlor? Right now I have no CYA in the pool and I need to shock it, so I figured I would kill two birds with one stone :-D

I'm not really positive, but I think 16 oz of dichlor would increase cya by 8 ppm. So basically .5 ppm cya per ounce of dichlor.
Dichlor is 57.3% stabilizer and 64.4% chlorine (sort of), so for a 37854 liter pool (10000 gallons) adding say 260 grams (9.17 ounces) introduces:
(260 * 0.573) / (37854 / 1000) = 3.94 ppm stabilizer
and
(260 * 0.644) / (37854 / 1000) = 4.42 ppm chlorine
(260 * 0.573) / (37854 / 1000) = 3.94 ppm stabilizer
and
(260 * 0.644) / (37854 / 1000) = 4.42 ppm chlorine
For each 1 ppm of chlorine you add with dichlor you are also adding .9 ppm CYA. (Close enough for Government work!
