Spacesaver Steps.

Hello. We have "Spacesaver" steps (I think they are pretty close to "Biltmore" steps). My question is for the rails; how did everyone mark the rails where they needed to be drilled at the steps seeing as this is under water, will a Sharpie work? Thanks, Calvin.

How about lipstick on the rail ends? Saw this on DIY when they used it to mark the location of drains coming through the back of a vanity. I think it would work for you though.
