Filter standard operating pressure and heater bypass valve.

I have a question about my Hayward micro- clear 72sq.ft. D.E. filter
I have a 2hp pump also Hayward .
With 2" plumbing .

What should the Standard operating Pressure Be !!!
And my installer installed a Heater bypass valve becuse when the Heater was first installed in 1998 it started making a loud banging sound , so he came back and installed a heater bypass valve, with it slightly closed the banging stopped.

Also with clean D.E. the filter pressure is 15 lbs , with the bypass slightly closed .

With the bypass open the pressure is 30 lbs (clean D.E. )

I have not noticed the banging with it open or closed anymore ? Should i run it open or closed ???
Does it really matter ???

Re: Filter standard operating pressure and heater bypass val

Your pressure numbers seem suspect. Are you sure you are opening/closing the bypass as you stated? I would think when the bypass is open, the pressure would be lower.
