I have metal handrails, painted white, that attach (underwater) to the steps in the pool that are peeling due to the prior imbalance in the water. I haven't yet located a source for paint suitable for metal submerged in swimming pools. Does anyone have any knowledge of such paint, or any suggestions? I can replace them with plastic handrails, but at the cost of $100, and the originals are only 1 season old. Thanks for any ideas.

Have you considered powder-coating? Super tough finish but perhaps just as pricey as new.
Thanks for the idea, but after looking online at the process of powder coating, it looks like a complicated process for which special application tools are needed, etc. Too involved. If I knew someone in the business...but I don't.
It's not a diy job but there is probably a vendor near you that could do them. From my experience there is usually a $100 min chg +- for small jobs, that may be more than new rails.
