When to put on solar cover?

It's spring - I can tell from all the mud (fortunately not in the pool). I'd like to put on the solar cover and get a head start on warming things up. However, the water's still well below 50F, so our SWCG won't be generating chlorine anytime soon (or so it says on the label).

Would it be OK to put on the solar cover before the SWCG can operate? I can get the pump running and do BBB, if necessary.

Hydraulically mundane 20x40 rectangular polymer (~30K gal.), IntelliFlo VS+SVRS pump, IntelliChlor IC40 SWCG, Pentair CCP520 cartridge filter, LED light, 2xDeck Jets, SR Smith Turbo Twister slide

Get it all balanced up and keep an eye on your FC from raising those temps and you should be fine.
