sizing system

I am researching salt water generators for my 12000 gal pool. I understand over-sizing the system and i have read that you should do it 1.5-3 times the pool size. I was thinking of CompuPool systems that come in 24,36,48 sizes. They are rated on amount of cl produced per day but is that running 24 hrs/day? What sized do you suggest and how long (avg load in home pool) would you have to run it per day?

Thanks

Either of the two smaller ones should be fine unless you run your pump very little. Even the smallest one, 24K gallons, should work with 8 hours a day of pump runtime without any problems.

The amount of chlorine produced is specified based on 24 hours turned on and active. But the pool size recommendation is designed to take account "typical" pump run times.
