High Alkaline - Low Copper in saltwater pool

We have an above ground 18' pool, 4273 gallons. We used approximately 120 gallons of salt. **Our copper ions were low and TA WAS 240 INSTEAD OF 140. Our original water source is chlorinated. All other readings were normal. No cloudiness, no flaking. Any ideas for us to correct the ALK and Copper readings?

    Welcome to tfp, Namah

Do you just have a saltwater pool or do you have a saltwater chlorine generator (swg)?

We do not ever recommend putting copper in your pool. It can stain surfaces and turn blond hair green. See this pool school article:

The SLAM process is not finished until: 1. CC < 0.5 ppm, 2. An OCLT < 1.0 ppm and, 3. The water is crystal clear.

Add your pool details and location so we can better help: pool-school/read_before_you_post

Ideally copper level should be 0 ... if you are using something that adds copper, we would suggest you stop.

A lot of information including the levels we recommend are found in Pool School (button at the upper right of the page).

There is an article in Pool School on how to lower TA.
