Flow switch

We have a relatively brand new pool with a SWG. The pool cleaning company we just hired tells us that our pool builder did not install a flow switch but should have.

Before I send a nasty letter to the pool builder (this is issue number 1000), is our pool cleaner correct that there should have been a flow switch installed?

What type of SWG do you have? Some have the flow switch built into the cell manifold and others (like the Hayward) are a separate fitting.

Yes, there should be a flow switch, although without one your SWG should not even be working unless the builder somehow bypassed that safety feature.

Thanks for the reply. It is a SGS Breeze system. The pool cleaner mentions that the system is tied into the timer on the subpanel but you can turn the system on without the pump also running.

The manual does say that the SWG should never get power unless the pump also has power. That is normally done by wiring it to the output terminals on the timer. If you can turn the SWG on with the pump off this has not been done correctly.

That manual also states that there is an internal flow sensor (page 12). But, it does sound like the wiring is not correct (as also described on page 12).
