    It is green, CYA 90

Split from this topic for better response. Bama

I'm having the same issue. Been trying to kill this stuff for 4 days and looks the same. FC is shock level. Had water tested and said CYA was 90. Should I think about draining some of the water?

Unless you are using a salt water chlorine generator, I recommend draining some and starting over. If no SWCG, you need to be in the 30-40 range. Shocking with a CYA of 90 is going to require a lot of bleach.

It's best to have your own test kit, if you don't already. If your CYA is 90 then it's best to drain about half the water and refill and test it again. If your at about 40 - 50 ppm it will be much easier to maintain shock level.

You also should be following the shock process outlined in Pool School if you're not. You'll want to maintain it until you've passed the OCLT.

Drain half the pool and you drain half the algae as well. Then refill and with the lowered CYA, plus half the algae volume, your work is much easier.

****, forgot to post. Filled it up and started the shock treatment again. Started clearing up finally by Wednesday. CYA is 40, and the chlorine is lasting. 90% back, It should be normal by Sunday. Maybe we can test it out, forecast is for 90 degrees on Sunday. ThX again
