how do people seal their stone

I would like to know the methods that people use to seal their flagstone coping and concrete deck. What are the do's and don'ts?
Do you brush it, so pray it or both? I read the instructions for Dupont sealer and after application you are to wipe it all down. that seems like a lot of work.

I use Water Based Deck-o-Seal

Spray it on with a hand pump bottle sprayer.

I always spray down my coping and stone with freshwater before hand and turn off my pumps before applying sealer.

After pressure washing my sidewalks I went to home depot ans got a gallon of concrete sealer ans just rolled it on. That was about a year and a half ago still looks like I just did it.
