So if pump dosen't prime, its only the suction side coming from pool thru pump right?

And if theres a dscharge leak after pump to filter etc then it would never affect priming right? just leak when system is off right?
(Could the copper to pvc union be old and leaking air? i do not see water leaking and tryed the plastic bag over it.)
psi reads 21-22 just washed it. kinda weak flow at returns in pool.

Does the pressure gauge go to 0 when you shut the pump off? If so have you checked your skimmer baskets, are they clean? It seems to be that since your system is pressurizing you might have a blockage somewhere in the system. Skimmer Baskets, the impeller might be full of junk, something in the suction line etc....especially if your filter is clean.
