    Concrete and coping replacement project

Started our concrete repair job, and the coping will be replaced as well. Other items for replacement, the skimmer has some cracks so might replace that while we have access, and one sidewall seems to be bowed in a bit so will try to straighten it up. Found a snakeskin under one of the sidewalls.

We are planning on putting a diving board in as well if anyone has recommendations for a board or anything else we should do while its exposed.

Looks like they did a good job of keeping the waste out of the pool...

I'm impressed they used such a big breaker.

I've busted up twice that amount with a hand held 30lb'er

    It took three weeks though.

It's amazing how good this guy is, he could scoot a hot wheels car around the pool with that thing. He sits it on there, gives it a couple of hits, and then scoots the concrete away from the pool. The other guy said he saw just a few small pieces go in which the kids can dive for next summer.

That much work took about 2 hours i think.

How about some in-ground umbrella sleeves? I am planning to add some, but I am still laying my coping stone. I haven't got to the paver decking yet.

The skimmer didn't make it, Funeral services pending, although it was on the list for replacement anyway. I just hope the walls are in good shape.

For the sleeves, I am going to use a bronze nipple normally used for plumbing. I haven't really found any sources for a specific product out there. I figure the bronze will last forever and I can rig some sort of cap for them when not in use.

How did you change the coping without draining the pool? Doesn't the liner bead insert into the bead receiver on the coping?

Re: Concrete and coping replacement project

Sorry for the late reply, haven't been on here in a while and I guess I'm not getting notices of replies to the forum... May need to check my settings.

Pool was only drained low enough to change the skimmer, I wasn't there when my guy took the old off and put the new back on. I'm curious myself how he did it, but in guessing he did a little at a time so all the liner didn't fall in the water.

I am a bit frustrated, since the pour, there are 5-6 cracks in the concrete, only 2 where stress reliefs were done. We haven't got to use it yet and cracks are forming from the inside to the outside.
