I am currently servicing a Polaris Watermatic system and we have had ongoing problems with the ORP sensor reading. The unit is installed on a hot tub in a commerical application, approximately 3000 litres or so, and is connected to a bromine puck feeder. The system is 1-2 years old.

Initially both ORP and PH sensors were not working correctly. After much difficulty acquiring the parts from Polaris, we replaced both sensors. The PH sensor is now working fine, however the ORP sensor reading 660-700 and there is no Bromine in the hot tub.

Has anyone had similar issues with this system? Are there better systems available? If so what would you recommend.

Thanks for any help.

660-700 mV with no Bromine is very unusual.

In a commercial spa application using bromine the exact opposite is usually the case. It can be very difficult to register much more than a 400-500 mV reading with a reasonable bromine level.

If you are in an area where an ORP controller is mandated by health codes on commercial spas and health inspectors are looking for a certain ORP level I would be suspicious that a previous user of that controller may have adjusted the ORP offset high and you are not seeing a current accurate ORP level on the display.
