We had the pool closed today. Our company said we don't need to drain the water below the skimmer and the last 2 years we haven't but I have noticed that the returns seem to be bulging from the walls some and I have read on here ice can cause that. We get a lot of snow and ice on the cover with long stretches(weeks) of below freezing temps. Should I and can I now that it is all closed up drain the water to below the returns? I don't want to mess up the gizmos that are now in water.

If they sealed off the supplies and returns you can use a sump pump to pump off some water BUT some covers require the water level be left at normal level.
We have a regular ugly black/green poly pool cover with water bags and enough excess to allow it to lay on the water if I drain to below the returns. Thanks.
