    "short sale pool" new owner of very old pool via short sale

    Hi,

    Just recovering from an overwhelming loan and short sale experience buying a new house! Yay, that's over! Now we are fixing the place up, including the pool. We are up and running after the generous donation of equipment from a family friend and pool professional and thought the forum might enjoy a before and after pic:

    BEFORE (obviously)

    AFTER
    [attachment=0:24z9nhfw]After pool_small.jpg[/attachment:24z9nhfw]

    We're in and we're swimming and everything works now (except heater, but since we are in So Cal, we're just going to go with a solar cover for now until we have some more $$ or maybe never...) We had to re-run the electrical lines; I mentioned the replacement on pump and filter, had to knock out a nest of wasps, filled with water, shocked, balanced, got our fence up (we have a 2 year old), and have the preliminary chems in -- just need to add conditioner/stabilizer asap and get a fix for the light (wiring is dead so need a solution there -- maybe a battery powered until we can fix the line) and then a few odds and ends (some cracks around the grounds outside, couple metal fixtures need replacement on grounds outside, perhaps a new ladder handle, etc).

    I will have further questions and will post in the appropriate forums but just wanted to say "hello!"

    Re: New Pool owner of very old pool via a short sale

    Additional info for the curious: pool is said to be fiberglass, estimated about 18,000 gallons (kidney shape so sort of tough to estimate but it's 30' Long by 16' wide at widest/14' at tighter sides, 9 ft at greatest depth/3 at shallow). It sat empty of water for about 8-10 months (not sure length of time) while it was on the market, but the surface was good and we needed to fill it for the loan so we ended up going all the way at the start and got almost everything fixed! Originally we were going to wait as there were more "necessary" things in the house that needed fixing but since we filled it we thought we might save the trouble of draining and refilling later. So here we are!

    Did there used to be a big wall or shed or something that was replaced with the temp fencing? Certainly seems to open up the feel of the area.

    EDIT: NM, I can see the corner in the second picture ... all about the camera angle.
