There is two things that will cause your cleaner to start ok then slow to a stop. Too much vacuum it will suck its self to the bottom or a lack of vacuum will not allow the diaphram to work. This unit should require about 5 lbs of vacuum. you should also note there are a lot of different brands with that same style of cleaner is yours designed for a inground or above ground pool
