I had my SC 48 cleaned as recommended, and reassembled. However, DIG 220 showed purifying off. Is the Cell needed replacement. The cell had been used for 4 years.

Does it just show it as off or is there other indications as to why it's off?
At 4 years old it may be nearing the end of it's life. You can have a local pool store test it and they should be able to tell if it's bad.
