I just went through my 2nd new liner install in less than a month. The first new liner had a hole in the seam and they had to replace it after less than 2 weeks.
They had me fill the pool halfway (took about 16 hours) and they came back sometime late in the afternoon the next day and cut the holes and stuff for the return and skimmer. It was evening before I could turn back on the water and finish filling (abut another 16 hours). That was last Thursday.
I then added enough cya to get to 40-ish. Added chlorine to the pool and checked all the other levels. I have been fighting something in the water all week. The water never turned cloudy or green, but it would not hold chlorine at all. I have brushed and scrubbed several times this week. Just performed an OCLT again last night and still lost 3ppms. My cc's have ranged from 0-1 this whole time. The water is clear and sparkily. There is nothing in the skimmer or strainer baskets. My question is should I bump my chlorine levels up to mustard shock levels to see what happens or just ride it out?
Could the water sitting in the pool for that day and a half with no chlorine or circulation be causing this? I am an avid reader of this site and use everything I have learned here, but this has got me puzzled. I will keep up the process, but should I be more aggressive about it? Thanks all!
