Hi Pool forum,
I have a 40K gallon salt in ground pool with spa and my Jandy Aqualink 10 year old single speed pool pump went out. I went online to amazon.com and bought the Pentair IntelliFlo FS+SVRS High Performance pump thinking that I would qualify for a rebate from my electric company and save significant dollars on my energy bill each month.
However, I had a pool guy come over to take a look at installing and he said that it what I bought was a piece of junk, that Inteliflow VS's wont last more then 4 years and the cost to replace the motor is almost as much as the pump itself. Plus I would need to buy some $200 controller and pay him $250 to install. He said, I should return it and have him put in a single speed whisperflow which would include installation for $950.
Does anybody in the forum here think this is accurate?
The cost of the intelliflow was $1,100 and I am going to have to pay for shipping and restocking fees which will amount to a $200 loss. I wont qualify for the electric discount and I likely wont save any money on my electric bill. I just dont want to return it until I get some feedback from you guys here on the forum. I am in southern california and my electric rates are extraordinarly high.
