Water test results

I have been running my SWG about 6 weeks.
These are my latest water test results using a Taylor Deluxe test kit.

pH 7.6ish (Taylor small comparator)
TA 100
CH 280
FC 5ppm (SWG at 80%, 10h/d)

CYA 65 (drop test)
salt 3500 (test strip)


The pH will actually settle down to 7.5 if I wait a few minutes. Which is more accurate, the immediate color or after letting it sit?
TA is a little high. I know it is recommended to have TA at 60-80. Why?
CYA a little low from recommended here, but is somewhat subjective anyway. I'd rather not get too high.

Any recommendations?

Match the pH color immediately, this should always be the first test as the pH can change in the small water sample.

High CYA generally protects the FC better from the sun and allows you to run the SWG on a low setting.

Does your chlorine test max out a 5ppm? If so, I would suggest upgrading to the FAS-DPD test to have better FC and CC numbers.

SWG and water features tend to make the pH rise due to aeration. Having a lower TA tends to make the pH drift slower. If you have no problems with the pH rising too fast, then the TA is fine.
