I thought I read somewhere that ammonia was produced when algae was being killed by chlorine. Is that correct?
Do any of the common pool chemicals for balancing and setting up your water contain ammonia?
Also, we have two API fish tank test kits for ammonia (NH3 and NH4+) and for nitrites (NO2-). Can these be used to test pool water for the presence of either, indicating that algae may be present?
I'm still trying to correct for other issues but wondered if this was a way to check for algae that is more resistant to chlorine.
Thank you for your responses!
